OUR  PHILOSOPHY

In certain activities, it has occurred that intuition, passion and creativity have led to the application of principles or laws even before they were well explained by science; the piano certainly represents a great example of this phenomenon.

The design and construction of a concert grand piano require a confluence of knowledge across multiple disciplines, along with a very thorough study of the different materials employed and of some physical principles that govern its functioning.

Plato: “The beginning is the most important part of the work.”

This “maxim” from the philosopher and writer Plato suggests that a good start lays the foundation for the successful completion of the entire work.

We carefully study all the details in order to define from the outset dimensions, spaces, proportions, and various sizes.

The care in sourcing raw materials for all our components and our know-how lead us to create true works of art, making BORGATO pianos unique.

Aristotle: “It is possible to fail in many ways, while success is possible in only one”.

This valuable thought from the Greek philosopher Aristotle invites us to reflect that, to achieve a truly remarkable result, one of the most noble and ancient materials is still used today: wood. An excellent and unrivalled essence for sound propagation in the soundboard is resonance spruce.

The soul—the true “beating heart” that brings the instrument to life—is the soundboard. Its crafting requires a profound analysis of the material, coupled with the utmost rigour, accuracy, precision, and scrupulous care—values that are non-negotiable to us.

The culture of Italian artistic beauty, great mastery, and remarkable dexterity expresses that manual skill of ancient “gestures,” which bestows upon our pianos that voice imbued with the colors of the beauty of “Italian Canto”.

Leonardo da Vinci: “Not he who begins, but he who perseveres”.

This timeless principle of Leonardo da Vinci underscores the value of consistency and tenacity—qualities that nurture original ideas and bring visionary inventions to life.

Guided by creativity, research, and an innate technical intuition, Luigi Borgato reimagines tradition through the design of the instrument he loves and reveres.

The fusion of profound expertise and unwavering constructive discipline empowers Luigi Borgato to craft concert grand pianos of truly innovative conception.

The singularity of art and craftsmanship stands as the cornerstone of BORGATO’s entirely handcrafted pianos—each one meticulously built, one by one.
